Why
Bamberg County is one of six counties designated as a part of the South Carolina Promise Zone; this Promise Zone is the second of four rural Promise Zones. It was designated in 2015 by the Obama Administration for this USDA status. Known as the "Corridor of Shame," this designation of Promise Zone for this allows many federal grants agencies to offer special consideration of grant applications. The designation also allows county organizations to be served by the Southern Carolina Regional Development Alliance and its representatives; coordination of partnerships and new grant possibilities are proposed.
